How To Use The Database File Storage

The purpose of this article is to explain how to use the Database File Storage in the DotActiv software.

Applicable Products: DotActiv Pro, DotActiv Enterprise

The Database File Storage is a function that allows you to upload and download planograms to and from the database. These files are organized in the database according to the hierarchy. 

This function also allows you to create and maintain a custom file structure for the storage of any files, not just planograms. 

Before you follow these steps, confirm that you are working on a database.

To log in to a database, open the DotActiv software. Select the applicable configuration, untick the ‘No Database’ box, enter the relevant details and click ‘OK’.

Uploading Planograms To The Database

Step 1: Under the ‘File’ tab, navigate to ‘FLP Storage’ and click ‘Upload To Hierarchy’.

Step 2: On the Upload Planograms Window, select the directory in which the planograms that you would like to upload, have been stored. 

Step 3: Tick the planograms that you would like to upload. If you would like to upload all planograms, tick ‘Planogram’.

Step 4: After you have made your selection, click ‘Upload’.

Downloading Planograms From The Database

Step 1: Under the ‘File’ tab, navigate to ‘FLP Storage’ and click ‘Download From Hierarchy’.

Step 2: On the Download Planograms Window, select the output directory. This is where the planograms will be downloaded to. 

Step 3: In the panel on the left, select the file in which the planograms that you would like to download, have been stored. In the panel on the right, tick the planograms that you would like to download. If you would like to download all planograms, tick ‘Planogram’.

Step 4: After you have made your selection, click ‘Download’.

Creating and Maintaining a Custom File Structure

Step 1: Under the ‘File’ tab, navigate to ‘FLP Storage’ and click ‘Database File Storage’.

Step 2: To create a directory where your files will be stored, click ‘Add Directory’ and insert a suitable name. You can create directories within a directory for maximum customization. 

Step 3: To upload files, open the directory in which you want to store your files by double clicking on the directory. Click ‘Add File(s)’ and select the files that you would like to store. Once the files have been selected, click ‘Open’. 

Step 4: To rename files or directories, right click on the items you would like to rename and select ‘Rename’. Enter a suitable name and click ‘OK’.

Step 5: To delete files or directories, right click on the items you would like to delete and select ‘Delete’. If you are certain you would like to delete the items, select ‘Yes’. 

Step 6: To download files, right click on the items you would like to download and click ‘Download’. Select the output directory and click ‘OK’. 

Step 7: Once you are done customizing the Database File Storage, click ‘Close’.
