DotActiv
DotActiv’s software is a native windows desktop application. This means DotActiv is installed as an application on your computer as illustrated in the image below.
DotActiv Free and DotActiv Lite are completely local solutions and all data storage and processing takes place on the users local PC. DotActiv Professional and DotActiv Enterprise include the option to connect to a scalable SQL database.
SQL Database Hosting
While the software itself is a windows desktop application, your database can be hosted on your local server or you can host your database with an offsite provider such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
Database integration allows a seamless flow of data to and from the software. The server and database that stores your data will be hosted on your company’s site. This gives you full control over your own data and prevents any privacy issues.
Activ8
We recommend that you allow DotActiv to host Activ8 on a web-based server. This option will allows users from different retail locations to access Activ8.
If you wish to host Activ8 on your local server, you can do that too. However, this option will only your internal employees access to Activ8.
