At DotActiv, our aim is to provide each and every user with the confidence to successfully implement category management initiatives using our software. This is achieved through our training, products, and services.
The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the different training options offered to all DotActiv Lite, Pro and Enterprise users.
There are two main options available, namely our standard and premium training. Our standard training is designed to supplement the basic learning which is done on the DotActiv Academy and is offered for free with any DotActiv software license purchase. On the other hand, our premium training aims to offer packaged training modules that can be purchased at a premium by those customers who prefer virtual one-on-one or classroom setting training sessions.

Standard Training
All DotActiv users have full access to the DotActiv Academy.
This is our education portal, which provides you with all the theoretical and practical aspects surrounding successful category management as well as the necessary software training to equip you in implementing category management best practices using DotActiv’s software. The DotActiv Academy also allows you to connect with other industry professionals and ask questions on the forums provided.
The DotActiv Academy includes six mastery levels; each focussing on a different aspect of category management. The courses included in the DotActiv Academy are as follows:
- Software Mastery Level 1: Data
- Software Mastery Level 2: Clusters
- Software Mastery Level 3: Assortment Planning
- Software Mastery Level 4: Planogram Generation
- Software Mastery Level 5: Floor Planning
- Software Mastery Level 6: Reporting
To schedule a standard one-on-one training session, please ensure that you have completed the relevant DotActiv Academy mastery levels so that the live training can be focused on your unique needs and priorities.
Please note that this does not mean that you have to complete all six of the software mastery levels, only those relevant to your software edition.
The following Mastery Levels are relevant to the specific DotActiv licenses listed below:
- DotActiv Lite – Mastery Level 1, 4 and 6
- DotActiv Pro – Mastery Level 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6
- DotActiv Enterprise – Mastery Level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
The sessions are conducted via an online meeting tool such as Google Hangouts, Skype, Zoom etc. A licensed account will only have access to two free training sessions of one hour each.
The training is focused on the aspects of the software that you are least confident in to ensure that you have a good overall understanding of the software as well as the confidence to use it. This is why it is important to provide us with a list of the things you would like to focus on during the session – this enables us to prepare and customise your training experience.

Premium Training
In order to cater to all of our customer needs, we also offer packaged training modules that can be purchased by those customers who prefer virtual one-on-one or classroom setting training sessions conducted by a training specialist.
These sessions are packaged in terms of your needs and pricing is based on the number of attendees in the session. If you have more than one user, you have the option to decide if you would like to book one-on-one sessions or joint learning sessions.
Classroom setting training allows for joined learning so that users can also learn from each other’s questions. However, if your users are working on different functions of the software a one-on-one session would be more beneficial.
Pricing Options
Pricing will be charged at $150 per hour for one-on-one training for a single user. If you would like a group training session for 2 or more users, it will be $75 per hour for every additional user joining. This gives you a 50% discount for every additional user attending.
All of the following modules take around 2 hours to complete depending on the amount of attendees and the difficulty of the module.

Apart from the DotActiv Academy and one-on-one or classroom setting training sessions, DotActiv also has an extensive base of retail blogs – viewed here – and a knowledge base – named the PowerBase – which can further aid you in making the most of your DotActiv software. Both the PowerBase website and the retail blogs are available to everyone at no additional cost.
All of these training materials available to you will ensure that you are confident in using the DotActiv software.
