This article will help you to download, install and setup the TeamViewer remote support application that DotActiv uses to deliver IT support.
Downloading TeamViewer
TeamViewer is proprietary software that DotActiv uses to get remote access control to your computer to help solve any problems you face with our software.
You can download TeamViewer one of two ways:
- Visit this link. Clicking on the link will begin the download automatically.
- Open DotActiv and select the ‘Help’ tab. From there, click on the ‘Remote Support App’ link as shown below.
Installing TeamViewer
Run the executable file downloaded in the previous step. Windows may ask for permission to run the application. Selecting ‘Yes’ will give the application the needed permissions.
You will then be presented with the following screen:
As you can see, there is a User ID and Password. Both are automatically generated by the application.
Please note that it may take some time for the User ID and Password to show as the application needs time to setup and link with the TeamViewer service.
If the dot at the bottom of the window remains red, please verify that you have internet access, and try restarting the application. Should the problem persist, please contact TeamViewer support here to resolve this issue.
Using TeamViewer
When in contact with DotActiv’s support staff, they will request your User ID and the Password shown in the application. Giving them this information will allow them to connect to your machine and perform remote support.
Once connected, you will see the following window on your screen:
This means that the support technician is connected to your machine and can view/control it for the purpose of assisting.
The name under the Session List shows you the name of the technician that is connected.
Should you require, you can send instant messages to the technician via the chat option as shown below while they are on your computer, as shown below:
With TeamViewer installed, DotActiv’s support staff can provide you with better and immediate assistance in using our software or investigate and fix potential problems.
